Do insects live in the ocean?

There are insects in the ocean. Yeah, I know, kinda crazy, but let me explain. There is a certain type of insect that lives in the open ocean, its name is a sea skater. These animals are small insects (smaller than a raindrop) that are able to ride the waves kind of like those freshwater bugs that you see in creeks.

Sea skater are really weirdly adapted in order to survive the ocean. To not drown, sea skaters have very small water repellent hairs and they are overall very small. This means they can easily avoid raindrops while the smaller drops can just bounce off of them. To move, they essentially run on top of the water's surface tension. Not only can they run but they can jump, and when they jump they can move at speeds faster than a fighter Jet!  Anyways, to survive these sea bugs eat basically everything they can find and when it's time to lay their eggs, they lay them on anything that floats, even plastic.

Well that's all I wanted to write. I kind of went on a tangent because I want to procrastinate my social studies homework but it's getting late and I wanna be done before dinner. OK, bye!

  2. Das ist unheimlich interessant, Noah. Ich kann mir überhaupt nicht vorstellen, dsss so kleine Tiere den Stürmen und Wellen widerstehen können.
